2nd Precursor Prototypes
Some of my vining for Precursor 2. Trying to leave my clips open-ended to allow an option of multiple paths. I had been closing my clips to create a complete narrative unit when the lab informed me this is not conducive to the Korsakow platform.
Korsakow is an interactive, open-source platform that allows loose connections to be made by a user who actively navigates a pathway through the presented content. Therefore, the aim for the Precursor is to capture each element/object separately – it’s essence. From this clip/SNU the user can therefore jump into an associated characteristic of this object. Reminds me of Derrida’s Différance – the term ascribed to when you differ and/or defer semantically from one signifier to the next. However, using ZFC Set Theory the relationships between each object may not necessarily imply the same or similar meaning. What Bogost was aiming to illustrate in mentioned ZFC was that all objects are equal in their own right, doing away with the hierarchical nature of Derrida’s Différance perhaps…
Adrian mentioned deconstructionalism, a movement Derrida was a pioneer of, claims that things are created from nothing/non-existence. I cannot get my head around this definition as my impression of Différance is that everything is interlinked, entangled in binary opposition with one another. Perhaps it is time for a refresher…
Back to the Precursor 2 though, here’s a quick example of deconstructing breakfast, and then lunch in separate vines.
